Color Theory
Color Theory is both the science and art of using color. It explains the human's perception of a certain color and how colors mix, match or contrast with each other.
Understanding more Color Basics
Hue, shade, tint and tone
Hue - refers to the colors on the color wheel like Red, Yellow, Blue.

Shade - a hue which black has been added. This is the darker shade of the hue/color.

Tint - a hue which white has been added. A lighter shade of the hue/color.

Tone - a hue which gray has been added. A desaturated shade of the hue/color.

Color Scheme
Colors Schemes are an arrangement or combination of colors, especially as used in interior decoration. This can also be applied to artworks as well
Monochromatic - a color scheme that only uses the shades, tints and tones of one hue.
Complementary - two colors of the opposite position on the color wheel. This makes a contrasting but compatible pair of color scheme. (e.g. Orange, Blue).
Analogous - a group of three colors that are beside each other (e.g. Purple, Blue, Cyan).
Triadic - three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel (e.g. Red, Blue, Yellow)
Split Complementary - a color scheme that uses either one base color and two secondary colors.
